On August 8th 2008, VietNam National Unversity - IC Design Research Education Center combine with Synopsys Company - one of the world leading EDA software company, open Seminar “IC Design Innovation For The 21st Century” in Faculty of Electrical & Electronics Engineering of University of Technology HCM City

The morning session is reserved for CEO and Design Center Managers. Sir Don Chan, Vice President of Corporate Applications Engineering Organization from Synopsys. The common title of the workshop:

(a) Trends of the IC Market - This 1 hr paper provides a overall landscape of the IC Market and discusses some of the challenges involved in pushing the technological envelope as the IC technology advances.

(b) Insights into an SOC Design - Using Synopsys Solution to Address SOC Design Challenges -This 1.5 hr (or 2 hr) paper discusses the major steps in a typical SOC design flow and how state-of-the-art design tools are being deployed to minimize the risks associated with integrating different functions on the same chip. Often, these chips are expected to have a good yield from the wafer fab and almost always expected to good result on FIRST tapeout.

The afternoon session is a hands-on lab session reserved for Design Centre Managers and the Front End Engineers: From 1.30PM to 4.30PM: Lecture follow by Lab session, using Synopsys Design Compiler, conducted by NG Kian Peng and ICDREC’s specialist assistant
